Kickball Event Raises $24,000 for Adolescent Mental Health Services

June 7, 2017

Kingston, N.Y. – 240 participants, ages 14 to 70, came out to play in the Benedictine Health Foundation’s 3rd annual Kick for Mental Health Kickball Tournament at Dietz Stadium on Sunday. The event raised approximately $24,000 to benefit adolescent behavioral health and substance abuse programs in Ulster County.

Paul Beichert, Vice President of the Benedictine Health Foundation and event Chair, stated, “We’re so thankful for the tremendous support and enthusiasm of our participants and sponsors, many of which fielded teams this year. The competition between the adults and the energized high school students was fierce, but always friendly. Behavioral health and substance abuse are very serious issues facing our youth. Our way of raising money to address those issues is anything but serious – it is kickball and having fun is a required!”

Proceeds fund vital programs offered in school, hospital and community based settings developed in partnership with Ulster County educators and healthcare providers.

Three teams made up of Kingston High School Band members were presented with the Team Spirit Award, Ryan and Ryan Insurance Brokers captured the Top Fundraising Team Award, and Rachel Scorca from Kingston High School received the Top Individual Fundraising Award.
