On behalf of my family, I would like to thank our community for its continued support of the Benedictine Health Foundation’s Rosemary D. Gruner Cancer Fund.
The fund was established in 2004 and directly assists people in Ulster County to aid in the treatment, care, and support of cancer patients in financial need. Each year, we strive to raise more money to continue our work of providing financial support to our neighbors diagnosed with cancer.
Our largest fundraiser, the Bike for Cancer Care and 5K Run/Walk, was a virtual event this year. I want to personally thank all of the individuals, families, and businesses that helped raise over $87,000 in an extremely tumultuous year for everyone, including cancer patients.
If you would like to learn more about the fund and the assistance it provides to our community, please visit the website www.bikeforcancer.org.
My family, the Benedictine Health Foundation board members, and the cancer patients who are assisted, truly appreciate our community’s generous support. Thank you!
Albert J. Gruner Jr.
The writer is chairman of the Bike for Cancer Care event.
We’re teaming up with John H. Fisher, P.C. to reward a successful individual or business with the opportunity to give back to the community. We need your help to decide who this individual or business should be. If you know someone who has achieved great success recently, please nominate them for a chance to win the opportunity to donate to a non-profit of their choice.

Kingston, N.Y. – December 22, 2019 – The Klock Kingston Foundation, through Key Private Bank as Trustee, awarded a $25,000 grant to support the Benedictine Health Foundation’s Cancer Patient Emergency Assistance Fund.
“We thank the Klock Foundation and Key Private Bank for their continuous support of our mission. The Cancer Patient Emergency Assistance Fund enhances our capabilities to assist with bills and is a life changing means of support for people struggling with a cancer diagnosis”, stated Julie Krieger, President of the Benedictine Health Foundation.
The Benedictine Health Foundation’s mission is to raise and distribute financial resources to those struggling with a cancer diagnosis and whose financial means limit their ability to access or receive the care that they need. Assistance is provided to Ulster County residents and their families or those from neighboring counties receiving medical services in Ulster County.
