“Thank you for the $500 gift cards. The food and gas cost are an issue for most people today especially those on limited income. It sure is coming in handy driving to all the appointments and treatments. The extra $250 paying Central Hudson was also a big relief. Bernadette was especially kind and also so quick to process everything. We really and truly appreciate the help!”
“Thank you so much for the gift cards you so kindly provided me during my cancer treatment. My drive to Kingston is about 60 miles round trip and having had multiple doctors’ appointments, surgery, eight chemotherapy treatments, twenty – one trips to radiation and now follow up appointments, the gas cards were an absolute life saver! The Hannaford cards kept me healthy and well fed and worry free. As a low-income senior, the financial support was not only much appreciated, but also very much needed. Thank you again, for your generosity, support, and care, from the bottom of my heart.”
“Just a note to tell you how much the $500 gas credit cards are appreciated! This generous gift will certainly come in handy and words can’t say how much it is useful and wonderful to do this! God Bless you all!”
“A little background. We have 30 years with the military (retired) followed by 10 years for HealthAlliance as a security officer with The Methadone Treatment Clinic. We had some very hard times through our 47 years of marriage and have applied for various help and haven’t received anything from anyone. Now we are both retired and on a fixed income when we found out my wife Patty has breast cancer, and I now have Parkinson’s Disease. Needless to say, it has put a burden on us. But to our surprise, we found out about the help you offer, and to our bigger surprise, we were granted. Your very kind help will allow us to buy gas to go back and forth to her treatment and to buy the foods that she will need to keep her healthy and thus speed up her recovery.
Your sincere kindness was just so overwhelming that it is hard to put into words how much it will help us. Thank you and God Bless.”
“To the Donors of Benedictine Health Foundation’s Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund, My husband and I recently received your kind financial assistance toward payment of food, gas, and utility bills. This gesture meant a lot to us since we are new to the area and have been further isolated from employment, friends, and family due to COVID. The kindness of unknown friends gave us an unexpected lift of the heart in our troubled times. When my mother dies of lung cancer, she had many loving friends who wanted to give to her memory and a fund was also made in her name with the goal of helping a cancer afflicted-family in need. I did not imagine I would be on the receiving end one day. Thank you, your contribution to your beloved friend’s memory had brought help and happiness to another.”
“To the lovely people at the Benedictine Health Foundation: these gift cards have made a huge difference in my life. I have been fighting cancer for 8 years. I have a 33-year-old disabled son who lives with me. The last several years have been challenging but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help.”
“I am writing this letter to express how this program has helped me so much with food being able to get vegetables fresh and fruits is very important to maintain good health during treatment, it as helped me so much and the gas cards has helped me to go back and forth to my Dr. for my treatments. I thank the Benedictine Health Foundation for the assistance that I received.
Mary
Just wanted to say how much the Stewarts gas cards and Hannaford cards helped me.”
“I want to thank you for all the good work you do. My cancer diagnosis brought on an early retirement I had not planned on. Through your Emergency Assistance Fund, you paid on of our bills. That was one less thing to worry about and that meant a lot, thank you! Through your Rosemary Gruen Memorial Fund, we were fortunate recipients of Hannaford gift cards. We had planned to go to Family’s house this Thanksgiving but decided to stay home. The impact of this gift really hit home when I gave the cashier at Hannaford 2 gift cards to buy our Thanksgiving dinner. I had all I could do to hold back the tears of gratitude I felt at that moment. It was overwhelming. I cannot express how grateful my heart is to all of you for your acts of kindness & support. May God bless you all as you continue to do this extraordinary work. Thank you!”
“Thank you for the gift cards to purchase food. WE are extremely grateful for your help. My husband has throat cancer and will be unable to make the product for our home base business. We both work full time at our business and will not be able to operate without the product. This gift will help us get through these difficult times! Thank you.”
“The Benedictine Health Foundation has helped me with the gift cards by providing food for me and my children during the diagnosis of cancer I have. This was very helpful after working less from having cancer. I’m very grateful for it and thank you.”
“When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was stunned? I have no history in my family at all. Having to deal with surgery and radiation therapy has been challenging and stressful. I can handle to physical changes, but the financial difficulties seemed insurmountable until I found you! I can’t thank you enough for this wonderful program!”
“Dear Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund, your dedication, generosity and compassion are humbling. I appreciate the spirit of the fund as much as the assistance. Thank you to Bernadette and all the people who make this happen.”
“Thank you so much for awarding me the grant from the Rosemary Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund. This assistance has helped to make an otherwise unpleasant situation much less stressful and worrisome. I was also fortunate enough to have my electric bill paid this month through your Emergency Assistance fund. Being unemployed while I go through chemotherapy and cancer treatment has proven difficult in more ways than one. Your foundation and the Gruner grant has helped to alleviate some of the financial burden and for that I am truly grateful.
I so appreciate these local efforts and the work you do and hope to someday pay it forward.”
“We want to thank you for your generous gift cards. It was more than we could ever expect! We very much appreciate your kindness and Judy too! Thank you again!”
“Can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am for the gift cards. One never knows how long or how easy their cancer journey will be. With programs like this it makes it a little easier. Thank you.”
“Thank you so much for the $500 donation to us. We are both in our 80’s and have had surgeries but I did not need treatment. My husband George finished radiation 2/26/2020. We were able to get groceries and gas for our car which both were needed. Thank you again for your help. Keep it going.”
“Wow! I can’t express my gratitude enough for the gift from your foundation. As a single cancer patient living on a small fixed income, this gift couldn’t have come at a better time. Being able to get back and forth to my treatments and also run errands, without the stress of deciding what I must sacrifice in order to put food on my table, or gas in my car, is indeed priceless – more than I can properly articulate. Your assistance (gift) has lifted a cloud of stress from me, and frankly, I always want to have a positive attitude as I continue to face this challenging treatment. We all know that mental health is essential to getting well. Your foundation has provided me some much needed relief. I am, Eternally grateful.”
“Finding out about my cancer diagnosis was a shock but having Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund extend their financial help was a wonderful support. I want to thank all involved at the Benedictine Health Foundation!”
“I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for the gas and food gift cards. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2019. When I started my daily radiation treatments the traveling became costly. The Hannaford food gift cards were also helpful keeping food on my table. I am so grateful for the gas and food gift cards that I was blessed with. I thank you so much.”

“I have been volunteering and donating to the Bike for Cancer Care 5K Run/Walk event for 5 years. My friend Elissa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 6 years ago and we began to volunteer and give back to our local community to help others. Back in August of 2017, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. We turned to the Benedictine Health Foundation for help. They immediately provided my mom with gift cards to Stewarts and Hannaford. This certainly put a smile on my mom’s face not having to worry about gas, vitamins and supplements that she was now required to take. This year we were able to rise over $5,000 which helps 10 cancer patients for the next year. My mom passed in June of this year and we would now like to continue raising money in memory of her so that we can continue to help others. Please join us in our fight against cancer and help cancer patients in our community. Thank you!”
“I ride because I can… and for all of those people who can’t. I ride in memory of all my family members who we have lost to cancer and also ride in support of my family members that have fought and beat cancer.”
“When I was diagnosed for the second time with breast cancer last year, the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund was a Godsend for me. With their help and support my life was made a lot easier while going through treatment. I’ve hosted 14 years of Breast Cancer Tournaments at the New Paltz Golf Course where I have worked for the last 17 years. This year a portion of the proceeds benefited the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund, let’s say I wanted to pay it forward. Thank You Benedictine Health Foundation for all you do for everyone facing a cancer diagnosis.”

“The Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund helps many of my patients make it through the first two years of cancer treatment. Because of time lost from work and high out of pocket expenses for health care, patients need financial support during treatment. Without this fund, our patients might not go through with radiation and other treatments that allow them to live healthy cancer free lives!”
“Thank you to the Benedictine Health Foundation for the financial support through the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund when I needed it during treatment. Your contributions to individuals and the community are beyond measure.“
“The Benedictine Health Foundation’s focus on helping local families is the key to why we, at iHeartMedia, support the foundation. Each of us has been touched personally or through friends by cancer. And, recently many of us have experienced the same watching friends and family battle substance abuse in our community. The opportunity to help local families as they battle through these fights is an honor and a responsibility for each of us.”

“River Radiology is pleased to have the opportunity to give back to our patients through the Benedictine Health Foundation’s tremendously effective Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund. Your work in supporting the life necessities of patients undergoing arduous cancer regimens is highly commendable, answering the needs that no other organization does. May you grow and prosper in this very important work.”
